HELP SOUGHT TO FIND MAN LAST SEEN AT SYCUAN CASINO IN DECEMBER

January 14, 2021 (San Diego’s East County) – The San Diego Sheriff’s department seeks public help to locate Matthew Patton, 30. He was last seen on Dec. 10 around 7 p.m. leaving Sycuan Casino Resort in unincorporated El Cajon.

According to the Sheriff’s department, Patton met a friend the day before at Viejas Casino & Resort in Alpine. The pair later met up at Sycuan, where Patton reportedly stayed and continued gambling.

Patton was last seen walking toward Dehesa Road. He was wearing a white Nike hoodie and dark jeans.

July 10, 2019 (El Cajon) - The legendary ‘60s British rock band Herman’s Hermits with its original lead singer Peter Noone will be live in concert at Sycuan on August 3rd with shows at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

They stormed the American pop charts 22 times with smash hits such as “Can’t You Hear My Heart Beat,” “There’s a Kind of Hush” and “I’m Henry VIII, I Am.” The boys from Manchester ultimately sold over 80 million records including seven gold albums, inspiring fans around the world.

May 24, 2018 (Sycuan) – The Sycuan Casino held a topping off ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate placement of the final beam at the 12-story, 300-room hotel and resort slated to open in March 2019.

Sycuan Tribal Chairman Cody Martinez thanked tribal elders and members, the executive team, and Swinerton builders.  “It really is a collaboration,” he said, calling the tribe’s achievement “a family effort--everybody bringing together the vision of what it is going to take to bring Sycuan to the next level.”

The hotel will create 700 new jobs for the community, Chairman Martinez said.

SYCUAN BREAKS GROUND ON CASINO EXPANSION INCLUDING NEW HOTEL AND EVENTS CENTER

March 31, 2017 (El Cajon) –“This is truly our day. We’re here to celebrate,” Sycuan Tribal Chairman Cody Martinez told a packed house during a groundbreaking on the Sycuan reservation for the tribe’s casino expansion.

The ambitious project will include a 12-story hotel resort with 300 rooms,  adult pool with swim-up bar, kids pool,  gardens including a 420-foot-long “lazy river,” new restaurants , spa,  60,000 in additional gaming space, and a spacious 11,401 square foot ballroom that can double as concert hall seating 1,200 or banquet room  with capacity for 700. The $226 million, 500,000 square foot project is slated to open in 2019.

August 13, 2015 (Sycuan) – Sycuan Casino pulled out all the stops, bringing in Hollywood talent to premier a new branding campaign this week at a VIP/media event in the Live & Up Close Theater.

“It’s  a token of pride to be partnering with a number of charitable organizations,” said Cody Martinez, Tribal Chairman for the Syucan band of the Kumeyaay nation.  The casino’s new slogan is “Play. Win. Together.”   The slogan, video and related marketing campaign highlight the many local charities and community causes that benefit from Sycuan’s charitable giving, such as Rady Children’s Hospital,  the Padres , the Challenged Athletes Foundation and the Wounded Marines Fund.

SHOOTING ON I-8 ONRAMP: MAN INJURED IN EL CAJON

 

March 2, 2015 (El Cajon) – A dark Toyota Tercel occupied by two Hispanic men in their 20s that left Sycuan Casino shortly after 3:30 a.m. The Toyota reportedly followed a couple in a pickup truck, then opened fire just before the vehicle entered eastbound I-8 from the West Main Street onramp.  The driver of the pickup was struck by a bullet in his shoulder.

MEET PADRES LEGENDS AT SYCUAN MAY 24

 

May 22, 2014 (Dehesa)—Visitors to the Sycuan Casino on Saturday, May 24 will have an opportunity to meet San Diego Padres’ 1984 World Series players-- and have a chance to win the grand prize:  a road trip for two to Chicago to watch the Padres take on the Cubs.

The event takes place Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.  Tickets will be distributed starting at 10 a.m. in the casino’s front lobby. The first 200 people are guaranteed to meet the players.

A free commemorative signed photo plus Padres baseball caps will also be given away, while supplies last.

On February 1, country western singer Ricky Skaggs will perform at Sycuan. Skaggs was named Country Music Hall of Fame’s 2013 Artist in Residence. In his long career, he’s won numerous Country Music Association Awards,a Grammy,and the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Album of the Year. His band, Kentucky Thunder, has been named Instrumental Group of the Year by the IBMA seven times.

March 18, 2013 (El Cajon) – Sycuan Casino in El Cajon has agreed to serve as presenting sponsor of the 12th annual San Diego Advertising Fund for Emergencies (SAFE) fundraiser and party from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at the Ivy Rooftop Lounge atop the Andaz San Diego, 600 “F” St., in the Gaslamp District in Downtown San Diego.

SAFE is a volunteer, non-profit organization (501c3) that provides confidential financial assistance to local advertising and marketing professionals and their families facing a life crisis emergency. The fundraiser will feature food, networking, entertainment and a silent auction to benefit SAFE grant recipients.
