Alpine’s Biggest Annual Festival to be held May 1 & 2, 2010

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – April 29, 2010 – Viejas Outlet Center will host Alpine’s biggest festival, the 13th annual Sage & Songbirds Festival & Garden Tour on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2. The theme for this year’s event is “The Hills Are Alive with Butterflies.”

The free family-friendly event in the Viejas Outlet Center show court will feature live butterfly releases at noon both days, as well as displays of live hummingbirds and birds of prey, garden-related vendors, plant sales and art displays throughout the weekend. Educational programs will teach a variety of habitat, gardening and wildlife topics, and guided tours of the award-winning habitat gardens of Viejas Outlet Center will be offered.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

A tour of residential gardens and habitats coincides with the festival, with proceeds benefiting CHIRP, a local non-profit organization dedicated to preservation and enjoyment of birds, butterflies and other creatures through hands-on and interactive programs and gardens.
