October 17, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department will present “Aesop’s Fables,” a whimsical production that highlights Aesop’s imaginative fables, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Stagehouse Theatre on campus.
The public is invited to attend the play, and its content is suitable for all ages. Admission cost is $8 per person. All major credit cards are accepted. The box office accepts phone orders and will be open one hour prior to all performances.
“Aesop’s Fables,” performed by 10 Grossmont College Theatre Arts students, is the college’s touring production for the fall semester. The legendary storyteller Aesop is credited with such expressions as “don't count your chickens before they are hatched," "a wolf in sheep's clothing" and "a sour grapes attitude." The cast’s costumes of animal characters help communicate life lessons to the audience, and the play illustrates our foibles, common sense and humanity.

The Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department student touring troupe has performed over the past 15 years at elementary schools located throughout San Diego County, entertaining more than 90,000 local elementary school students over the years. Since 2002, support for the college’s touring production has been provided with a grant from the Rice Family Foundation.
The college is now scheduling a one-hour performance of “Aesop’s Fables” at local elementary schools. Some dates in November and December, either on a Tuesday or Thursday, are still available. The cost for an elementary school to book a performance of “Aesop’s Fables” is $125 for a single performance or $200 for two performances at the same school. The cost includes an illustrated “Aesop Fables” hardcover book that is given to the school’s library.
