“NEAR CRITICAL” FIRE WEATHER FORECAST FOR SUNDAY

January 7, 2011 (San Diego's East County)--The National Weather Service has issued a "fire weather planning forecast" for southwestern California. In San Diego County, moderate to strong northeast winds and very dry weather with low humidity are forecast for inland areas, combining to create "near critical fire weather conditions" on Sunday.

Monday and Tuesday, conditions are expected to ease as cooling air and higher humidity returns, however drier weather and gusty northeast winds are forecast Wednesday.
