September 19, 2010 (San Diego) -- A New PATH (Parents for Addiction Treatment and Healing) of Spring Valley will present the sixth annual “Strut for Sobriety!” luncheon, “Path to Recovery” awards ceremony and fashion show on Saturday September 25, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.
The event will feature a silent auction and boutique at 10:00am, followed by a luncheon, awards ceremony, entertainment and fashion show. The Celebrity Honorary Chair is famed musician Dr. John, and Barbara Brown will serve as Honorary Chair. Geni Cavitt and Rory Devine (NBC 7/39) will serve as celebrity emcees, and radio personality Joe Bauer as auctioneer.
Individuals will be honored for their efforts to reduce the stigma of drug addiction and for their contributions to ending discrimination against those who seek treatment and recovery from substance abuse. 2010 Path to Recovery honorees are: Laura Cain, Johnny Allem, Cecil Steppe, and Margaret Dooley-Sammuli.
A fashion show produced by Gretchen Productions will feature fashions from Macy’s Horton Plaza, worn by professional models as well as guest models in recovery. Virginia Napierskie is the generous Emerald Sponsor (Love); Turquoise (Luck) sponsors are Gretchen Bergman and Viejas Enterprises; and Linda Marteeny is the Opal (Hope) underwriter.
September is National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month, and September 25 is national Rally for Recovery Day. “Strut for Sobriety” coincides with efforts made throughout the country to end discrimination against individuals who suffer from the disease of addiction. Substance abuse is a public health problem that affects millions of Americans, regardless of age, cultural background, race or profession. The event benefits A New PATH’s efforts to reduce the stigma of substance abuse in order to increase access to quality addiction treatment services. PATH’s goal is to save lives, heal families and move towards a healthier society.
Topaz runway tables of 10 are $1500 and individual tickets are $85 each.
