2 DEAD IN ACCIDENT AT I-15/I-805 INTERCHANGE

October 10, 2010 (San Diego) – Two women died in a multi-vehicle accident on southbound I-15 and 805 yesterday at 7:17 p.m. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office has not yet released names pending notification of kin, but provided the following information.

 

One of the women was a 19-year-old student who lived with family in North Park. The other was a 21-year-old Hispanic woman who lived with family in San Diego. Both were friends and occupants of a 2006 Nissan Altima traveling southbound on I-15 at the I-805 ramp when they crossed multiple lanes and side-swiped a 2006 Lexus GS300.

 

Both vehicles left the roadway down a steep embankment.The Nissan overturned several times and the occupants were ejected. Paramedics and officers were called to the scene but despite medical efforts , both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The other vehicle landed at the bottom of the embankment and its three passengers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The accident shut down I-15 southbound for several hours.
