March 6, 2012 (El Cajon)—Smoke from an attic fire filled Kelley’s Pub on East Bradley Avenue this evening, but no one was injured thanks to the swift response from San Miguel Fire. Firefighters evacuated about 20 patrons safely, then attacked the fire by removing ceiling tiles, eliminating the need to cut large holes in the roof to vent the fire.

The fire was reported at 6:42 p.m. and knocked down 25 minutes later. The preliminary cause of the fire may be tied to a recent construction project.

Joining in the mutual aid attack on the fire were crews from Santee, El Cajon, and Lakeside. No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $20,000. Early indications are that Kelly’s Pub will be sanitized and reopen for business on Wednesday, March 7.
