December 30, 2008 — (La Mesa) On December 29, a woman was arrested for charges stemming from a carjacking that occurred at Grossmont Center a week ago.

La Mesa Police Detectives and members of the Department's Special Enforcement Detail arrested Crystal Buckingham, a 28 year old female, without incident at an apartment in the 1000 block of Peach Avenue, El Cajon.  A Crimestoppers' tip was instrumental in this arrest.  The victim's stolen vehicle was recovered from that same area in the early morning hours of December 27, 2008.  No weapon was recovered.

Buckingham was booked into Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility for carjacking, kidnapping and robbery with a bail of $275,000.

(The Police have issued a correction to the 12-22-08 news release on this case:  The victim jumped out of the slow moving vehicle at West Main Street and the I-8 on ramp, not East Main Street as previously stated.)
