September 15, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Four breaking news incidents impacting traffic have occurred in Jacumba, Alpine, El Cajon and Escondido, including a fatality accident and another with serious injuries. Other road closures have occurred due to a gas line break and a small brush fire.

Old Highway 80 at Jacumba is shut down in both directions for an air ambulance following an accident with serious injuries, CHP reported at 2:45 p.m.

A collision reported on Tavern Road in Alpine at 1:15 p.m. has been confirmed as a fatality and the coroner’s office has been called. Arnold is shut down between Tavern and Alpine Boulevard and the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office has been summoned.

A Sig Alert has been issued for State Route 14 just north of Escondido Canyon, where the number three lane will remain closed until further notice due to a brush fire and clean-up, according to the CHP website at 2:20 p.m.

A reader has alerted ECM to a large gas main rupture at Brabham and Via Appolinaria across from Hillsdale Middle School in El Cajon. As of late this morning, a portion of Brabham was shut down.
