January 14, 2011 (El Cajon) – Earl Evans, 19, of National City was arrested Wednesday night at 9:10 p.m. for a burglary at 699 West Washington Street in El Cajon. After breaking a window and entering the home, he was confronted by the homeowner and fled.

Due to a language barrier, the first officers on the scene had a difficult time obtaining a description of the suspect. While these officers spoke to the victim, other officers moved into the area to search for the suspect.

Officer Tina Greer began searching a few blocks from the scene. As she drove in the 300 block of Patricia, she noticed a male who discarded a red sweatshirt as he walked down the street. When Officer Greer turned around to contact the subject, he was gone. She got out of her police car and found him hiding under a parked vehicle. As she spoke to him, she noticed that he had cuts and blood on his hands.

Officers on the scene advised that the suspect was a black male wearing a red jacket, and that he may have cut himself because there was blood at the point of entry. The victim was driven to Officer Greer’s location, where Evans was positively identified as the suspect in the burglary.

The suspect was arrested for burglary, and was later booked into San Diego County Jail, Lt. Tim Henton reported.
