Junior outfielder hits .688 with three homers, 11 RBI over four contests

March 20, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State outfielder Tyler Adkison has earned Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week honors for games played through Sunday, March 19, 2017. It is the first MW weekly accolade of the season Adkison, a junior from Culver City, Calif.

San Diego State went 3-1 last week with a win over nationally-ranked (No. 25) San Diego and a 2-1 MW series win against UNLV.

Over those four contests, Adkison batted .688 (11-for-16) with five runs scored, 11 RBI, three doubles, three home runs and three walks. He recorded at least one hit in all four games, had an on-base percentage of .737 and a slugging percentage of 1.438.

Adkison hit .750 (3-for-4) in 10-1 victory at intra-city rival San Diego on Tuesday as he also scored two runs, drove one run in and had a home run and a walk.

In the 5-3 series-opening loss versus UNLV, was 1-for-3 from the plate with two RBI, one stolen base and one walk. On Saturday, went 3-for-5 with one run scored, three RBI, one double and one home run in a 10-5 win against the Rebels.

Adkison closed the weekend against UNLV with a 4-for-4 performance in the 13-5 win for the series victory. In that game he drove in five runs, scored two, hit two doubles and one home run, and was walked once.

San Diego State will wrap up its current four-game home stand with a contest against Long Beach State on Tuesday, March 21, at 6:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
