March 28, 2009 (East County)--Thanks in part to East County Magazine readers, West Hills High School Student Lauren Smyle has made it into the "Sweet 16" finals as one of 16 finalists trying to win a $20,000 national scholarship sponsored by Zinch.com. The competition began with 1,700 students nationwide. Now after several weeks of online voting, Smyle's family asks help once against from ECM readers, since the competition is based on collecting the most votes in this unique online competition. Last round, she got the highest vote total-but now she faces tougher competition. To help Smyle win, go to www.zinch.com and click on sign up if you are not already registered. Under "who am I", choose "other" if you are not a student at West Hills or another school, or choose one of the other options listed. Complete the short sign up procedure. You will get a confirmation email and once you click "confirm" on the email, you can then log in and vote for Smyle in the north region.
