ALPINE VIEJAS DAYS SUNDAY OCT. 3; PARADE HONORS HEROES

September 30, 2010 (Alpine) – “Honoring our Heroes” is the theme of this year’s Alpine Viejas Days Parade this Sunday, October 3rd at 2 p.m. A full day of family-friendly events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. also include an Alpine Craft and Vendor fair, a Health Fair, as well as opening ceremony at 10 a.m. The Viejas band of the Kumeyaay nation sponsors the day’s events, along with the Alpine Stagecoach Lions Club presenting the parade.

 

The parade will proceed west down Alpine Boulevard starting at 2 p.m. at Albertson’s. Charlie Brown, director of community relations for the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, will be this year’s grand marshal.
 

The opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m. in the Albertson’s lot at the Big Yellow Truck on Alpine Boulevard, where there will also be entertainment . The Alpine Craft and Vendor Fair will take place from 10a.m. to 2 p.m.in the Albertsons parking lot/
 

A health fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ranch Farmers Market parking lot (behind Fred’s Burgers).
 

Alpine is located on I-8 in East County. Take the Willows Road exit and turn right onto Alpine Boulevard; Albertson’s will be on your left.
