November 4, 2015 - "In God We Trust" is printed on every piece of paper money that the U.S. Mint produces. But fewer Americans may be trusting God than in the past, according a new poll conducted by the Pew Research Center.

The poll found near nearly a quarter of American adults surveyed (23 percent) said they are atheistic, agnostic, or "nothing in particular," a 16 percent increase over the past seven years.

The percentage of religious Americans, or, as the poll calls them, people who are "absolutely certain God exists,” dropped eight percent to 63 percent over the same timeframe.

The percentage of Americans who pray daily, attend some type of religious service, and/or consider religion to be an important part of their lives also fell slightly.

Religions are facing internal changes too, 10 News reports.  For example, the Pew Research poll results showed a higher amount of Christians who believe that homosexuality should be accepted.
