January 11, 2018 (Spring Valley) – Just weeks after the fatal shooting of a man outside an Albertson’s store in Casa de Oro, another shooting occurred last night just blocks away.

At 10:22 p.m., deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3600 block of South Bonita Street in the Spring Valley neighborhood. They found a female with an apparent gunshot wound, says Sergeant Kotaro Murashige.

She was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that are considered non-life threatening, he added.

Witnesses told 10 News they heard at least 10 gunshots.

This was at least the third shooting in the community since October, when a man was injured by a drive-by shooting near South Bonita Street, according to 10 News.

The case is under investigation.  Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s investigative unit at (619)660-7090 or after hours at (858)565-5200.
