ARMED ROBBERY AT LA MESA PARK

January 21, 2011 (La Mesa) –A man was robbed of his IPOD at gunpoint on January 17 around 9:30 pm. in the parking lot at Highwood Park, 7777 Junior High Drive in La Mesa.  

According to police, the 23-year-old victim was walking in the parking lot when he was approached by a black male juvenile. The juvenile displayed a large-caliber semi-automatic handgun and demanded that the victim empty his pockets onto the ground.  The suspect told the victim to run away from the area, which he did.

 The suspect was last seen running westbound on Junior High Drive towards Parks Avenue. The victim, who was not injured, ran home before calling the police. A search of the area by LMPD and San Diego Police A.B.L.E. helicopter did not locate the suspect.

 The robbery suspect was described as a black male juvenile, 16-17 years old with a thin build. He had black Afro-style hair about one inch in length. The suspect was wearing a red and black hoodie with numbers on the front and jeans.
