September 21, 2019 (Spring Valley) - Sheriff's homicide investigators today announced the arrest of Waverly James, 49, for the murder of Stanford Roy Johnson, 52.

Johnson was found dead of multiple stab wounds on December 6, 2012 when deputies conducting a welfare check found a back door open at his home in the 900 block of Lemon Street in Spring Valley.

It took nearly seven years, but deputies identified James as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.  He was arrested in New York and extradited to San Diego, where he was booked for murder, says Lieutenant Chad Boudreau with the San Diego County Sheriff's homicide unit.
