August 28, 2024 (Ramona) – Two suspects are under arrest for allegedly stealing items at the Stars gas station in Ramona and assaulting employees on August 10 shortly before 3:30 a.m.

This morning, deputies served a search warrant related to the robbery investigation. During a search of a home in the 1700 block of San Vicente Road, Deputies located items connected to the robbery while searching the home. They also found two privately manufactured firearms, commonly referred to as ghost guns, says Sergeant Sean Gallagher.

Unlike weapons made by a licensed manufacturer, ghost guns do not have a serial number or other identifiable markings. The lack of a serial number makes it extremely challenging for law enforcement agencies to track these firearms to their owner or maker, hindering or delaying investigations and crime-solving efforts.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old man, Jahziel Hayes, and a 16-year-old male juvenile. Hayes is charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of an illegal firearm. He was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

The juvenile was arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of an illegal firearm. He was booked into Juvenile Hall.
