ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION REPORTED NEAR HELIX HIGH

August 17, 2012 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police have issued a warning that a man in a “beat up” white small or medium pickup truck attempted to lure a 16-year-old female student into his vehicle. The girl was walking to Helix High School at 8 a.m. today in the 7500 block of University Ave. when the suspect pulled up next to her, got out of his truck and told her, “Hey, get in my car.” 

The student ran home and called police. The suspect fled the area and was last seen driving eastbound on University. Police searched the area but could not locate the vehicle or the suspect, who is described as  a white or Hispanic male, 30-40 years old, unshaven, wearing a white T-shirt.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the La Mesa Police Department.
