March 27, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State outfielder Tyler Adkison has earned Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row, while Aztec senior Brett Seeburger was named MW Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 26, 2017. It is the first MW weekly accolade of Seeburger’s career.

San Diego State went 3-1 last week with a win over Long Beach State and a 2-1 MW series win at Fresno State.

Over last week’s four games, Adkison (Culver City, Calif., Mater Dei HS) hit .538 with a triple, home run and seven RBI. He compiled a 1.048 slugging percentage and a .700 on-base mark.

Adkison was 3-for-3 in the 10-5 victory against Long Beach State on Tuesday. He scored four runs, drove in three and had a triple and two walks. His two-run triple drove home the Aztecs’ first two runs of the game, erasing a 1-0 deficit.

In the 5-4 series-opening win at Fresno State on Saturday, Adkison walked twice, scored one run and picked up an RBI. In the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader, he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, one home run and one walk in a 12-0 shutout against the Bulldogs.

Adkison closed the weekend at Fresno State with a 2-for-3 performance in the 8-7 loss. In that contest, he drove in one run, scored one and was walked twice. He scored one of SDSU’s two runs in the top of the ninth to give the Aztecs a 7-5 lead.

Seeburger, a senior lefty from Oceanside (Vista HS), threw a one-hit shutout over eight innings in the second game of the Aztecs’ Saturday doubleheader at Fresno State.

He retired the first 14 batters he faced before allowing a two-out infield single in the bottom of the fifth inning. He went on to retire the next 10 batters through the eighth inning.

Over his right innings of work, Seeburger struck out a season-high seven batters and did not allow a walk, while throwing 97 pitches. San Diego State held on to the shutout in the ninth inning for the Seeburger win, 12-0.

The Aztecs return to action on Tuesday (March 28) when they head north to face USC at 6:00 p.m. PT at the Trojans’ Dedeaux Field.
