November 17, 2015 (San Diego)--The Cheese Store of San Diego (1980 Kettner Blvd, Ste 30, San Diego, California 92101) is hosting a Je Suis Paris fundraiser on Nov 22 at 6 p.m. to benefit the French Red Cross following last week’s terrorist attacks. Organized by Adventures By the Book owner Susan E. McBeth, the event will feature a candle lighting ceremony and a silent auction for signed books by best-selling authors Jennifer Coburn, Susan Vreeland, Michelle Gable, and more. French foods samples, wine, and desserts will also be available.

There will be appearances by best-selling authors as well, many of whom have Paris-themed books and personal ties to the City of Lights. Among them is local author Juliette Sobanet who has written a number of books set in Paris, from her debut novel Sleeping With Paris to her most recent publication, a memoir entitled Meet Me in Paris.

Regarding the reason she's participating in the event, Sobanet said, "I have several close friends who live in Paris, and I am absolutely in love with the city, so when I heard the news of the attacks, I wanted nothing more than to fly to Paris to help. But since I can’t be there right now, I am very much looking forward to our fundraising event this Sunday. We need to do all that we can to aid the victims and their families, no matter how far away we are."

Some of the signed books available in the auction include:

  • Lisette's List by Susan Vreeland
  • A Paris Apartment by Michelle Gable
  • We'll Always Have Paris by Jennifer Coburn
  • Scent of Triumph by Jan Moran
  • How to Eat a Small Country by Amy Finley
  • Meet Me in Paris by Juliette Sobanet
  • Henry Miller is Under My Bed by Mary Duncan
  • Secrets of a Charmed Life and A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner

A donation is required for entry into the Je Suis Paris fundraiser. For more information, please visit the event registration page.
