BICYCLIST INJURED IN LA MESA CRASH

October 22, 2019 (La Mesa) – A bicyclist struck by a GMC pickup truck in  La Mesa this afternoon suffered an apparent broken ankle, says Lt. Brian Stoney.  The pickup driver, 74, struck the cyclist while making a right turn from westbound University Ave. onto Harbison.

“The driver of the pickp truck, thinking he had hit a curb, continued on without stopping,” said Lt. Stoney, adding that the cyclist was knocked to the ground. A witness provided a vehicle description and license plate number to police.

 
“When contacted by the police the driver of the pickup truck was shocked to learn that he had hit a bicyclist and cooperated fully with the investigation,” Lt. Stoney said.
