May 28, 2009 (Alpine)-- The Alpine Little League presented a plaque to the Viejas Tribal Council on May 27th, expressing the organization’s appreciation for the Tribe’s ongoing support of their efforts to promote youth sports in the Alpine area community.

“Each year for the past 8 or 9 years, Viejas has supported our league with major cash contributions. With these donations, the league has been able to provide scholarships for those children whose parents have not been able to provide for registration and/or equipment costs,” said Chuck Taylor, secretary of Alpine Little League and chairman of PLAY. “Thanks to the financial assistance provided by Viejas, the league was able to purchase an electronic scoreboard for our Majors field. The donations have also gone toward the purchase of expensive equipment used to upgrade and maintain the fields and has assisted the Alpine American Little League in providing a safe, vibrant and professional activity for all of Alpine's children.” Photo: Chuck Taylor and Dana Zeno, President of the Alpine Little League, with Viejas Tribal Chairman Bobby L.
