February 22, 2013 (Alpine) – A water main break has created a sinkhole on Alpine Boulevard at the intersection of Victoria Drive.  The break occurred this afternoon, forcing closure of Victoria Drive.

Repairs may take 24 hours, a workman told ECM photographer Greg Dunne.

The Alpine Comunity Network reports that a boil water order has been issued for area residents.

Angela Brookshire at the ACN posted this evneing, "I have received many emails from Alpine residents stating that they had received an automated call from Padre Dam at 6:37pm, saying there is a Boil Water order in affect (for drinking & food preparation), if you are East of Harbison Canyon Rd...something to do with the Arnold Way Pumping Station.  Bring water to a boil, boil for 1 minute; let cool before using OR use bottled water, so you do not get sick.  They are hoping to have the repair completed within 72 hours and they will notify us when it is safe to drink our water.  A map of the affected area will be posted on their website very soon.  http://www.padredam.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=37 ."
