January 13, 2011 (El Cajon) --A bomb threat triggered an evacuation of the Wal-Mart store at 13487 Caminoi Canada in El Cajon last night.  Sheriff's deputies from Lakeside, Santee and Alpine responded after an unidentified male called an interior store phone shortly after 6 p.m. and whispered to a worker that he had planted a bomb.

Deputies presented the manager with several options and the manager opted to have the store evacuated.  The Sheriff's Bomb and Arson Unit was contacted, but waived response and instead asked patrol deputies to search the building.

Several teams of deputies and Wal-Mart staff were organized to look through the building, but no devices were found. The business re-opened to the public, however the manager was cautioned to advise staff that if they came across a suspicious object, not to touch it and to notify law enforcement.
