BURGLARY RING BUSTED IN SANTEE; SHERIFF DEPUTIES SWEEP AREA, NAB 8 MORE

January 28, 2010 (Santee) – Yesterday morning, Sheriff’s detectives arrested eight people in Santee in connection with a burglary ring that has targeted homes in Santee, Lakeside, and unincorporated areas of El Cajon. Approximately 60 law enforcement officers participated, recovering many stolen property items as well as a firearm, heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

 

All of the suspects arrested, in addition to three juveniles arrested a month earlier, reside in the same neighborhood. Since June of 2009, there were a reported 20 daytime residential burglaries in which jewelry and video game systems were the targets. Much of the jewelry was taken to local pawn shops in the East County or gold buying kiosks at Parkway Plaza mall in El Cajon. Over $50,000 worth of property was stolen during this crime spree.

 

The following individuals were arrested and all reside in the city of Santee: Nicholas Curl (21), Kelli Cannon (19), Cole Ensign (18), Brian Shay (18), Steven Shay (21), Taylor Tidmore (18) and two juveniles. It is the policy of the San Diego Sheriff’s department not to release a juvenile’s name or address.

 

All suspects face a variety of charges including conspiracy, burglary, possession of stolen property, ossession of controlled substances for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. This investigation, lead by Detective Brian Patterson is ongoing, and detectives are actively pursuing additional leads.
