June 14, 2017 (Mount Helix) – The Cajon De Oro Little League’s majors team has won the Tournament of Champions President’s Cup–tops among 16 East County leagues.

The Cajon De Oro league, celebrating its 60th season, includes players ages 10-12 who live in the Mount Helix, Casa de Oro and El Cajon communities and is home-based at Mosher Field on Mount Helix.

The Majors Dodgers played four tournament games and won by an impressive margin of 54-10.  The team is managed by T.J. Flannery with coaches John West and Jason Ledford.

“Most of these boys are also on All Stars, which is a separate tournament and combines the best players in each league to form one team,” says Karen Bunkell, whose son is a catcher on both the district championship majors team and the All Stars.  The League has two All Star teams, one for 10-11 year olds and the other for ages 11-12.  The youngest team has its first game tomorrow at Santana National in Santee.

The winning All Star teams will advance up to district, sectional, regional, and potentially, the Little League World Series.
