November 4, 2009 (Lakeside) --The Lakeside Fire Protection District received a call of a multi-patient vehicle accident at the intersection of State Highway 67 and Gold Bar Way. This accident was a high velocity head-on collision between two SUV- type vehicles. One vehicle was occupied by a mother, small child, and an infant.

While the accident resulted in major damage to both vehicles, most of the injuries were considered minor. There is no doubt had the mother not placed her two year old and a six week old infant in car seats, this could have been a tragedy.

An additional ALS ambulance from the City of Santee was requested to help transport the four victims. Two patients were transported to Sharp Memorial Trauma Center, while the two children were transported to Rady's Children Hospital.
