October 23, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Timothy Allen Bliss of Ramona has been arrested following a chase through Lakeside, Poway and Ramona on State Route 67.

The incident began around 10 a.m. on October 21, when Santee Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Philpot spotted a stolen 1992 Honda Accord at Winter Gardens and Lemon Crest Drive. The driver failed to yield and fled north on State Route 67. Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter joined patrol vehicles in the pursuit.

The suspect, Timothy Allen Bliss, 27, of Ramona led Sheriff Deputies and CHP officers on a 40-minute chase through eastern Poway and into Ramona. The stolen vehicle ran over a spike strip that Sheriff personnel had laid across the Highway 67 near Air Mail Lane. With the tires disabled and falling apart, Bliss continued to try to evade deputies.

He continued to operate the vehicle, driving on bare rims until it finally came to a stop at Pamo Road and Pile Street, according to Sheriff’s officials. Bliss was arrested without further incident. He was booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of auto theft and evading peace officers. There were no injuries or damage to private property.
