February 2, 2011 (La Mesa) -- Around 9:28 this morning, a man flagged down a La Mesa Police Officer in the 7500 block of El Cajon Boulevard to report a carjacking. Officers immediately searched the area and found Lachapelle Chenda, 30, of San Diego, in the back lot of an apartment complex in 4800 block of Parks Avenue.
Chenda matched the description of the suspect and was later positively identified by the as the carjacking suspect. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not need medical attention. His vehicle was recovered.
Chenda was arrested and booked into County Jail for carjacking.
