October 14, 2017 (La Mesa) - Harry Griffin Park is going to the dogs!

On Saturday October 21 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Coe Lewis will be hosting the third annual Carnival 4 Canines put on by Jackie Blue's Rescue Angels and KSON-FM 97.3 and 92.1.  Admission to this family-friendly, pet-friendly event is free, and it offers games for the kids, gourmet food, crafts, and vendors who specialize in one-of-a-kind and handmade items.  There will be microchipping services, animal welfare & conservation organizations as well as pet rescue groups. The doggy costume contest registration begins at 1 p.m., with the judging beginning at 2 p.m.  An opportunity drawing will begin at 3:30 p.m. (winner need not be present to win).   You won't want to miss seeing the doggy agility course.  All proceeds benefit Jackie Blue's Rescue Angels, a 501(c)3 nonprofit in Jacumba Hot Springs.

Please note: All well socialized dogs on a fixed lead are welcome to join in on the fun. For the health of your dog & other attendees, please have your dog's age-appropriate vaccines up to date. We discourage bringing underage puppies who have not completed their shots including rabies. If you do bring your puppy, please keep them off the ground and in the safety of your arms or a carrier.  All other well behaved pets are welcome (with up-to-date vaccinations) and all well-behaved humans are encouraged to come out & have a great time.

There will be a food & supply drive to benefit the under-served communities of rural East County, so please bring new/unopened food and new or gently used toys, leashes, collars, harnesses etc.

"This event will benefit Jackie Blue's Rescue Angels and their ongoing mission to find loving, permanent homes for abandoned, unwanted & shelter animals. Our current expansion project has begun and we hope to have a rescue/shelter/sanctuary up and running by Spring 2018. Your support is what makes this happen and we are forever grateful for your donations, volunteering, fostering and encouragement, it means the world to us."

Harry Griffin Regional Park is located at 9550 Milden Street, La Mesa.
