February 14, 2019 (San Diego) - Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Dianne Jacob delivered the annual State of the County address from the County Administration Center Wednesday. Jacob announced several initiatives and goals to address housing and homelessness, wildfire protection, mental health, substance abuse, energy and the challenges facing seniors.
Jacob, who joined the board in 1993, plans to ask the board to formally support many of these initiatives in the upcoming weeks.

As a senior native San Diegan now in Lakeside, I have heard and seen plenty, some not to my satisfaction. I know that "when" Government has money, it always finds a place to spend it. I have had a lifetime fill of welfare supporting non working "residents" of this community, many of which draw tax dollars in welfare form; to include illegal aliens. If Ms. Jacob wants progress and reform, let it be savings, not spending. A first hand example I witnessed was working for the San Diego Fire Department Fire Communications during budget time. The City referenced departments about their budget surplus or deficit and gave them time to adjust before submitting the forthcoming year. First and only priority was "how" to spend the surplus before taken. My guess that is the general mind set today.
