CITY OF EL CAJON RECREATION SPECIALIST KATY CHAPMAN RECEIVES AWARD

April 9, 2014 (El Cajon)-At a special ceremony held last month, Katy Chapman received the California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) District 12 (San Diego and Imperial Counties) Part-Time Recognition Award.  Chapman, a Recreation Specialist with the City of El Cajon’s Recreation Department, was recognized for her years of dedication, enthusiasm, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond in her service to the organization and the community.  At the April 8 City Council meeting, the Mayor and Council congratulated her on this prestigious award.

Chapman was recognized for her years of dedication, enthusiasm, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond for the City of El Cajon Recreation Department. She was actively involved in the City of El Cajon Recreation Department while growing up and eventually became a part-time recreation staff member. She has remained a loyal employee for approximately 30 years.

She is one of the top water safety instructors for the Aquatics program at Fletcher Hills Pool. 

“Her passion for drowning prevention and water safety is evident in her enthusiastic teaching style. In addition, Chapman is a beloved instructor by children and parents alike. She is often requested as an instructor for the Aquatics and Tiny Tots programs,” a press release from the city states.

Chapman is critical to the success of the programs she is involved with and the success of the Recreation Department as a whole, the release adds. “Her versatility, integrity, and independence makes made her a valuable asset, and her positive attitude is infectious in the workplace. Katy is a shining example of the Recreation Department’s mission statement, “to develop youth, support families and provide safe places,” and the City is proud of her accomplishment.”
