CITY HEIGHTS MAN DIES DURING DIVING EXCURSION

September 13, 2010 (City Heights) –Robert Michael Clampitt, 48, of City Heights was found submerged and unresponsive after failing to return from a diving excursion. Clampitt was among 14 patrons aboard a Waterhouse Charter when he made a solo dive at the site of the Yukon wreckage, the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office reports.

 

Cardiopulmonary efforts were made by San Diego Lifeguards, who transported him to their headquarters. Paramedics continued the effort, but were unable to revive him.

 

Clampitt, a divorced military veteran, lived alone in his City Heights apartment. An autopsy is pending and cause of death has not been determined. San Diego Police are investigating the death.
