Limited-Time Charter Explorer Opportunity Locks in Low Price for Three Years

March 17, 2014 (San Diego)-- City of San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Council President Todd Gloria today announced the official launch of the complete Balboa Park Explorer family of passes, granting general admission to all 17 Balboa Park museums for one low price.

The annual Explorer pass allows card holders to visit all 17 museums for $199 for a family up to six, $99 for seniors and students, and $129 for individuals. Available for purchase beginning today, Explorer multi- and single-day passes are also available and are great for out-of-town visitors. The new Multi-Day Balboa Park Explorer costs $53 ($29 for a child), allowing one general admission to all of the 17 museums over seven consecutive days. For a one day visit, a Single-Day Balboa Park Explorer pass is also available for $43, offering admission to any five museums of the visitor’s choosing.

Faulconer, Gloria and Balboa Park Cultural Partnership (BPCP) Executive Director Peter Comiskey also announced a 30-day countdown for San Diegans to become Charter Explorers, which locks in the introductory price of the annual pass for three years. Annual passes purchased by April 17 will have an exclusive “Charter Explorer” insignia printed on the personalized pass.

“The Balboa Park Explorer pass is your key to adventure and discovery at some of San Diego’s finest cultural institutions,” said Mayor Faulconer. “There’s something new to see at Balboa Park all year long.”

“One pass. 17 museums. All year long. Balboa Park Explorer truly puts 17 museums in the palm of your hand. With spring break coming up and families already beginning to plan summer activities this pass is a great value,” said Council President Gloria. “Buying a charter pass is a great way to show that you’re a proud San Diegan.”

Faulconer and Gloria made the announcement at a press conference held at the San Diego Air & Space Museum. More than 50 children and their families attended the event and were presented with complimentary Multi-Day Explorer passes.
