June 17, 2013 (Santee) – If you've had your bicycle lost or stolen in the last six months; call the Santee Sheriff’s Station. Please provide some form of proof; a picture of the bike, a receipt, identifying marks, or a good description of the bike in order to claim it.

Bicycle Security and Safety Tips

  • Lock your bicycle – use a good quality D or U-lock. Make sure it’s fastened so there’s no room to pry it open with a crowbar. Lock the frame, front and back wheel to a secure object.
  • Park in a well-lit public area.
  • Insure your bicycle in your home contents insurance and register your bicycle. This will be crucial in recovering your bike in case it is lost or stolen.
  • Wear a helmet and reflective vest.
  • Make sure your bicycle is equipped with a front headlight and rear flasher to make yourself visible to car drivers.
