April 13, 2010 (Warner Springs)--CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire Authority will be conducting a burn project tomorrow, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.near the community of Warner Springs. Crews will be burning piles of brush which was removed from the Warner Springs Estates area. Smoke may be visible from Highway 79 and surrounding areas.
CAL FIRE crews having been working in the area since the end of January removing hazardous fuels 100-150 feet from structures and 10-30 feet from the road. These types of fuel modifications occur all winter long across San Diego County under the direction of CAL FIRE Resource Management. During wild land fires these types of fuel breaks prove to be invaluable not only to the home owner but also to the fire crews defending the area, according to CAL FIRE.
