Friday, Oct. 19 is Debut of East County's New Halloween Attraction; scary movies also to be shown

October 14, 2012 (Rancho San Diego)  - The Halloween Spirit has taken over Cottonwood Golf Club. A 10,000 square foot maze is being constructed with hay bales on Cottonwood's driving range. It's been labled "Scary Maze" and it opens to the public on Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.

The hay bales are being stacked to a height of six feet. The dead ends in the maze are being designed with a purpose: to elicit screams. "We are going to have costumed characters in the maze that are going to scare people", said Cottonwood's Prinicipal Owner Henry Gamboa. He added, "Designing the maze has been a lot of fun for our employees. We really want families here in the East County to have a great time doing something together."

In addition to the maze, Cottonwood will be showing scary movies at night on an outdoor screen. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy films under the stars. There will also be a beer garden, food, live music and dancing.

Special hours are devoted to children with Kid's Halloween Hunts on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. when candy will be available in the maze. During Kid's Halloween Hunts the adult price is $10 with a paid child. General admission prices are $5 for children 12 and under and $20 for adults.

Operating hours are: Fri. Oct 19 & 26 and Thurs. Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sat. Oct. 20 & 27 from noon to 12 a.m. and Sun. Oct. 21 from noon to 10 p.m. Cottonwood Golf Club is located at 3121 Willow Glen Drive. For more information, call (619) 442-9891, extension 3.
