COUNTY BANS ALCOHOL IN 2 EAST COUNTY PARKS

December 20, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) -- The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation announced that visitors should plan on leaving alcohol at home when visiting Hilton Head and Steele Canyon County Parks. The new year-round alcohol-free regulations at Hilton Head and Steele Canyon Parks aims to assure that children and families will have an enjoyable time, according to a press release issued by the County.

 

Possession of alcohol beverages will not be allowed in the parks and the alcohol-free ordinance will take effect immediately. The permanent ban extends to the entire park and Sheriff’s deputies will issue citations to those who attempt to violate the alcohol ban. Signs will be posted to reflect the new alcohol restrictions.

 

Hilton Head Park is located at 16005 Hilton Head Road in El Cajon. The park’s main feature is an aquatic center with a pirate-themed water-spray for children. Hilton Head also features a multipurpose sports field, basketball courts, exercise walking path with exercise stations and shaded picnic areas.

 

Steele Canyon Park is a designated sports park located at 2925 Steele Canyon Road in El Cajon. The park features a multipurpose sports field, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, shaded picnic area and volleyball sand court.
