December 13, 2011 (El Cajon) – A motorist who hit the gas instead of the brake crashed into Tyler’s Taste of Texas restaurant yesterday shortly before noon, but fortunately no one was injured.

Heartland Fire & Rescue in El Cajon responded to the crash at 576 North Second Street, where they found a blue car had driven into the side of the restaurant. The driver, a man in his 30s, was accompanied by his wife and two children (a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old). The vehicle pushed forward a dining booth where moments earlier a family had been sitting.

The restaurant was closed temporarily for a building inspector to make sure the structure was sound. He allowed half of the restaurant to reopen.

There is no damage estimate at this time and the driver has not been cited.
