September 11, 2024 (San Diego) – The College Area Business District announces the Inaugural Taste of College Area taking place on Sunday, September 29th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This unique event invites foodies from across the city to embark on a culinary journey that offers a fresh perspective of the College Area neighborhoods. With over 20 local establishments participating, this event promises a rich tapestry of flavors, showcasing the neighborhood’s up-and-coming culinary scene.
“We are beyond excited to host our first ever Taste of College Area,” said Jim Schneider, the Executive Director of the College Area Business District. “This event is a testament to the recent growth of our community and a celebration of the many local businesses that are the heart of this incredible neighborhood. We’re eager for both long-time residents and newcomers to experience the vibrant, evolving community that continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many San Diegans.”
The Taste of College Area is a culinary tour that invites visitors and locals to connect with the community and appreciate the rich history and culture that continues to thrive in these neighborhoods. The event highlights the significant investments made in recent years, turning the College Area into a hub of innovative dining and vibrant community life.
Ticketholders will enjoy a self-guided tour of the area’s best eateries, coffee houses, pubs and wine bars, including popular spots like Ultreya Coffee and Tea, Woodstock’s Pizza, Ben & Esther’s, Corbin’s Q and many more! The diverse array of establishments reflects the neighborhood’s transformation into one of San Diego’s most dynamic culinary destinations.
To make your tasting experience easy and enjoyable, complimentary Old Town Trolley rides will be available, and attendees are encouraged to bike or walk to fully immerse themselves in the neighborhood’s bustling energy. The event will span the College Area and Rolando Neighborhood Commercial Corridor, covering El Cajon Boulevard between 54th Street and 73rd Street and along College Avenue near SDSU campus.
General tickets are priced at $40 in advance and $45 on the day of the event. VIP Tickets, priced at $50, include discounted drinks at select “oasis” bars & pubs, along with an exclusive event shot glass (while supplies last) for those 21 and older.
