August 5, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) – Fundraising sites have been established at GoFundMe for two families devastated by last week’s crash of a big rig truck that lost control and struck multiple vehicles.

A GoFundMe page called “Cherishing Christina”  was started by Sasha Sanchez, a licensed vocational nurse who witnessed the collision, which happened right in front of her on State Route 125 in La Mesa.

Sanchez was on her way to work at a mental health facility and had never faced a real emergency before, but knew her medical training would be needed. So, she pulled over and rushed to help. when discovered 6-year-old Kristina Andarus in the wreckage, Sanchez recalls, “She had stopped breathing and was brought back after I performed CPR. “

The little girl from Santee suffered a broken neck and has undergone surgery, but faces a long road to recovery.  Her mother, grandmother and sister were all in the car, and all suffered minor to moderate injuries as well.

The Good Samaritan nurse who saved Kristina writes, “Please help me to provide assistance to supply the funds she will need to aide her into being able to walk again.”  Kristina’s mother posted that her daughter is making progress and is now able to kick her right leg and move her right hand.

The second GoFundMe page is for Jennifer Campbell’s family. The 29-year-old Ramona woman and her mother, Nancy Bauerlein, were both killed with their vehicle was struck by the truck.  Campbell leaves behind a husband and three young children, their son and daughter, Dillon and Ariana, and Jennifer’s stepson, and Jordan.

The site was started by Tiffany Lynch, who recalls Jennifer Campbell as “beautiful and loving woman with an amazing spirit.”
