March 17, 2018 (Boulevard) – A driver, 67, from the Salton Sea was killed last night shortly before 7 p.m. He was driving a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 truck and towing a three-axle flatbed trailer loaded with concrete blocks on I-8 eastbound near Ribbonwood Road when he lost control and plunged down an embankment.
The pickup truck overturned, crushing the driver, who died at the scene despite wearing a seatbelt.
The investigation is continuing. However, drugs and alcohol are no suspected to be factors at this time, according to Officer Travis Garrow with the California Highway Patrol.

The load may have been too much for the truck. If the trailer tongue doesn't have enough weight on it the trailer can begin to sway from side to side violently.
