March 29, 2018 (Dulzura) -- Race Remington Uto, 27, of Dulzura has been arrested for the attempted murder and poisoning of his wife.
After she was hospitalized with an unknown illness, medical staff found extremely high levels of Thallium in her system, a heavy metal that has been used in the past as a rat poison and ant killer.
“Because of the levels of Thallium in the victim’s body, medical staff and investigators believe her exposure has been intentional,” says Lt. Greg Rylaarsdam with the Sheriff’s department.
The arrest followed an investigation in coordination with the FBI, NCIS, and County HazMat. Deputies concluded the victim’s husband was responsible. He has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility, where he is being held in lieu of $2 million bail. He is slated for arraignment in Superior Court East County division on Monday, April 2.
