January 28, 2012 (East County) -- Owners of two East County businesses are hearing their voices on radio commercials this month as part of the San Diego Better Business Bureau’s “Famous Voices” radio advertising campaign. Mark McDonald of La Mesa Carpet & Linoleum and Brad Belus of Cable, Pipe and Leak Detection of El Cajon are among  several BBB accredited businesses touting the value of the BBB to their company and consumers in the community on about 2,000 30-second commercial spots airing in January on 19 English-language and nine Spanish-language stations.

This year’s “Famous Voices” campaign, the 13th annual, is expected to reach more than 1.5 million adults, age 18 and older, in San Diego County, said Sharon Massey, executive director of the San Diego Radio Broadcasters Association (SDRBA), an organization which assists the BBB with the advertising campaign. The takeaway messages positions BBB accredited businesses as San Diego's ethical businesses, and is designed to encourage other businesses to support the BBB and ethical business practices, said Sheila Fox of Fox Marketing Network, the BBB’s advertising consultant. The SDRBA is a coalition of local radio stations that promotes the use of radio as a primary advertising medium and supports civic and charitable causes that benefit the San Diego community.
