February 14, 2023 (Carlsbad) - Playoffs for soccer and basketball have kicked off and tonight, the Christian High lady Patriots celebrated Valentine’s Day by heading up to Carlsbad to face Sage Creek in the opening round of CIF Division I girls soccer playoffs.

After some good head-to-head, the Bobcats struck first in the 27th minute on senior captain Seren Johnson’s one-on-one rolling shot that made it past Patriots senior keeper Jaylen Kinong.  The Bobcats showed off some skill in the sixth minute when senior Malia Leopold crossed it over to Amber Huff.  The freshman kicked it in to give Sage Creek a 2-0 lead at the half.

The Bobcats kept scoring in the second half. Junior Callia Chon sniped it in from the side past Kinong.  Senior midfielder Samantha Bickerstaff lobbed a nice goal to the top left corner of the net in the 12th minute and the Bobcats sent the Patriots back down I-5 with their tails between their legs and a 4-0 elimination loss.  Sage will move on to play Mission Hills on Friday.
