August 4, 2019 (San Diego's East County) - Here's this week's wrapup for East County alumni in pro sports.

July 28

West Hills and SDSU product Stephen Strasburg started today for the Washington Nationals as his record improves to 14-4.  Strasbutg pitched seven innings, gave up two hits, one run (one earned) and struck out nine for the Washington Nationals as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-4. 
 
Valhalla and USD product Jeff Houghtby went 1 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI for the Salem Keizer Volcanos as they defeated the Eugene Emeralds 8-1. 

July 29
 
Granite Hills product Travis Taijeron went 1 for 2 with one walk, one single and two runs scored for the Syracuse Mets as they were defeated by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders 5-4
 
Jeff Houghtby went 3 for 4 with a double along with a three-run homer for the Salem Volcanos as they defeated the Tri City Dust Devils 11-2.  
 
July 30
 
Grossmont High product Joe Musgrove started for the Pittsburgh Pirates as he improves his record to 8-9 on the season.  Musgrove pitched six innings, gave up five hits, two runs (two earned) and struck out four as the Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds 11-4. 
 
Travis Taijeron went 1 for 1 with a single, one run scored and twp RBIs for the Syracuse Mets as they were defeated by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders 6-3. 
 
Helix High and UCLA product Jack Stronach went 1 for 3 with a single and one run scored for the Tri City Dust Devils as they were defeated by the Salem Keizer Volcanos 5-3.

July 31

Jeff Houghtby went 2 for 4 with two doubles for the Salem Keizer Volcanos as they defeated the Tri City Dust Devils 10-0. 

August 1

Valhalla product Greg Garcia came in as a pinch hitter for pitcher Adrian Morejon as he went 1 for 1 for the San Diego Padres as they were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-2. 

El Capitan product Kevin Ginkel came in as relief for the Reno Aces as he pitched 1 inning, gave up two walks, struck out two and recorded his sixth save overall as the Aces defeated the Iowa Cubs 3-1.
 
Jeff Houghtby went 1 for 4 with a single and two RBIs for the Salem Keizer Volcanos as they were defeated by the Tri City Dust Devils 15-4. 
 
August 2
 
Greg Garcia appeared as a pinch hitter for the San Diego Padres as he went 1 for 1 with a double and one run scored as the Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2. 
 
Travis Taijeron went 1 for 3 with a single and scored one run for the Syracuse Mets as they defeated the Buffalo Bisons 4-3. 

August 3

Stephen Strasburg started for the Washington Nationals as he pitched 4.2 innings, gave up nine hits, nine runs (nine earned), two walks and struck out seven as the Nats were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks 18-7. Strasburg is the loser at 14-5. 
 
Greg Garcia went 1 for 3 with a single for the San Diego Padres as they were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1. 
 
Travis Taijeron went 2 for 4 with two singles for the Syracuse Mets as they were defeated by the Buffalo Bison 9-7 
 
Jeff Houghtby went 1 for 4 for the Salem Keizer Volcanos with a single and one run scored as the Keizer Volcanos were defeated by the Hillsboro Hops 7-6.
