June 16, 2019 (San Diego's East County) - Here are this week's top headlines for East County alumni in baseball.

June 9

Grossmont High alum Ben Brault started for the Pittsburgh Pirates as he pitched 6.1 innings and gave up five hits, two runs (two earned), three walks and struck out five as the Bucs fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2. 
 
Two East County ballplayers made headlines in San Diego as West Hills alum Steven Strasburg improves his record at 7-3 for the Washington Nationals as he pitched seven innings and gave up six hits, one run (one earned) and struck out six.  Former Vahalla Norseman Greg Garcia went 1 for 4 with a single. 
 

 
June 11
 
Former Granite Hills Eagle Travis Taijeron went 1 for 2 with a double, one run scored and one RBI for the Syracuse Mets as they defeated the Charlotte Knights 15-8.
 
June 12
 
Travis Taijeron went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and one RBI for the Syracuse Mets as they lost to the Charlotte Knights 7-6.
 
June 13
 
Former Ramona Bulldog Gage Canning went 3 for 5 with one home run along with two singles and five RBIs for the Potomac Nationals as they defeated the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 7-1.  
 

Joe Musgrove started for the Pittsburgh Pirates as his record falls to 4-7 on the season and pitched four innings and gave up nine hits, six runs (six earned), two walks and struck out three as they lost to the Atlanta Braves 7-4. 

Travis Taijeron went 1 for 4 with a single and scored one run for the Syracuse Mets as they defeated the Charlotte Knights 6-5. 

June 14

Ben Brault started for the Pittsburgh Pirates as he pitched six innings and gave up eight hits, no runs, no walks and struck out six as the Pirates defeated the Miami Marlins 11-0. 

June 15

Steven Strasburg appeared on the mound yesterday as a starter for the Washington Nationals as his record falls to 7-4 as he pitched five innings and gave up nine hits, six runs (six earned), one walk and struck out five as the Nats were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-3. 

Greg Garcia went 1 for 4 for the San Diego Padres with a double and scored two runs for the San Diego Padres as they lost to the Colorado Rockies 14-8. 
 
Gage Canning went 2 for 5 with two singles for the Potomac Nationals as they were defeated by the Fayetteville Woodpeckers 8-0.
