September 22, 2019 (San Diego's East County) - Here are this week's top East County alumni sports headlines:
 
September 16
 
West Hills product Steven Strasburg started for the Washington Nationals as he pitched five innings, gave up three hits, two runs (two earned), four walks, struck out six, but didn't register the loss as the Nationals were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2. 
 
El Capitan product Kevin Ginkel appeared in relief for the Arizona Diamondbacks as he pitched one inning with one strikeout as the Dbacks defeated the Miami Marlins 7-5. 

September 19

 
Grossmont High product Joe Musgrove started on the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates as he pitched five innings, gave up five hits, four runs (two earned), two walks and struck out six as the Pirates were defeated in 11 innings by the Seattle Mariners 6-5.  Musgrove didn't register the decision. 
 
Valhalla product Greg Garcia went 1 for 2 with a single for the San Diego Padres as they were defeated 5-1 by the Milwaukee Brewers. 
 
September 20
 
Grossmont High product Ben Brault started for the Pittsburgh Pirates as he pitched 5.1 innings, gave up six hits, six runs (four earned), four walks and struck out six as his record falls to 4-6 as the Buccos lost 10-1. 
 
Greg Garcia went 1 for 4 for the San Diego Padres with a single as they were defeated 9-0 by the Arizona Diamondbacks. 

September 21 - Football

Santana defeated Montgomery 35-6.  Sultan QB Nathan Temple:  nine completions out of 12 attempts for 212 yards and four touchdowns. 

Mount Miguel 46, Valhalla 28.  Mount Miguel's QB JD Lavierdere:  329 yards passing, seven touchdown passes.  Keegan Baker:  20 carries for 197 yards and one touchdown.  
 
Helix defeated St. Augustine 44-39:  Helix's Richard Coliminero: 16 completions out of 23 attempts for 241 yards and two touchdowns.  Elelyon Noa:  30 carries for 270 yards for two touchdowns.  
 
MLB
 
Greg Garcia went 1 for 5 for the San Diego Padres with a single as they were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2.  Kevin Ginkel made an appearance in relief for the Arizona Diamondbacks as he pitched 0.2 innings, gave up one run, a walk and struck out one.
 
College Football
 
Grossmont was defeated by Mt. San Jacinto 27-14 and falls to 0-3. 
 
Grossmont High product Alex Lillard registered one tackle for Dixie State as they defeated New Mexico Highlands 55-0. Helix alum William Payne registered three tackles for Dixie State.  
 
Noah Sol from Monte Vista playing for Northern Colorado had three receptions for 12 yards in their 14-6 defeat vs. South Dakota.

Jahad Woods registered 12 tackles for Washington State as they suffered their first loss against UCLA 67-63. 
 
Scott Young registered six tackles for the Arizona Wildcats as they defeated the Red Raiders of Texas Tech 28-14. 
 
Ezekiel Noa registered 10 tackles for Boise State as they defeated Air Force 30-19. 

September 22

MLB

Greg Garcia went 1 for 1 with a double and one run scored for the San Diego Padres as they defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks by a 6-4 score. 

NFL 
 
Mount Miguel product Corey Littleton recorded four tackles for the Los Angeles Rams as they defeated the Cleveland Indians 20-13.
