August 25, 2023 (San Diego) - For week two, ECM Sports heads up to Poway Unified, where the Patriots of Patrick Henry traveled north to face the Sundevils of Mt. Carmel.  The green and gold are 0-1 on the season after a bad loss to St. Augustine last week.

The Sundevils hit the ground running in the first with a rush from junior Riley ValeCruz and Mt. Carmel led 7-0 after one.

After nine plays (and plenty of penalties) in the second, sophomore quarterback Trevor Taumoepeau added onto the Sundevils’ lead with a right side rush.  Taumoepeau found senior Conor Bananal on the screen pattern for MC’s third TD of the half.  Taumoepeau found a receiver on a cross pattern for the fourth score and Mt. Carmel led 28-0 at the half.

The Pats finally got on the board in the third with junior quarterback Elijah Ruiz’s toss to senior wideout Zach Morales for the score.  The Sundevils still led 28-7 after three.

Taumoepeau put up one more for the highlight reel in the fourth; a smooth long TD pass and the Sundevils put the Patriots down 0-2 on the season with a 35-7 win.
